You rescued Saif from danger
How Saif found refuge in Canada after enduring unimaginable trials in Sudan and Jordan
Through your support of ShareLife, you welcome to Canada hundreds of refugees who are victims of war, violence, and persecution. One of them is Saif.
Saif was born in Darfur, where life was peaceful until the outbreak of Sudan’s civil war in 2003. As the video describes, he endured unimaginable cruelty from a young age. He was captured, shot, beaten, and imprisoned. Saif was only thirteen years old then.
Clinging to hope
After many years of struggle, Saif and his family were connected with the Office for Refugees of the Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT) – an agency funded by your gift to ShareLife – and St. Mary’s Parish in Barrie. Through their work and your support, Saif’s family arrived safely to Canada to start a new life.
Saif and his family are full of gratitude for how you gave them a place to call home.
“There’s hope. And when there’s hope, things work well. That’s what I experienced all my life,” says Saif. “And there is hope here.”
