Across our archdiocese, ShareLife agencies serve people facing many different challenges, like Emma, a widow whose health and mobility declined after her husband’s passing. Living alone, even grocery shopping became a struggle. Then she was connected to Society of Sharing, a ShareLife-funded agency that supports isolated seniors and adults with physical disabilities. Caring volunteers helped her buy groceries, share companionship, and regain her sense of independence. Because of you, Emma knows she is not forgotten.

You bring the hands of Christ to those who long for hope and compassion

Emma’s story remind us that to live the Gospel is to recognize Christ in those who struggle among us. Her experiences echoes the reality of countless individuals across our city, where hunger, loneliness, and hardship continue to grow.

An article in the Toronto Star in 2025 referenced a report showing there were more than four million visits to Toronto food banks in 2025—an increase of over half a million from the previous report. The findings also revealed that among the 300,000 people who turned to food banks, 65% were of working age and 37% held a post-secondary degree or higher. The need for food assistance is greater than ever and reaches across every part of our community. Through your continued support for ShareLife, you bring hope, comfort, and nourishment to families and individuals facing hunger across the GTA.
